Coldplay are performing a huge stadium tour as follow up to their arena shows in December 2011, performing their Brian Eno produced album 'Mylo Xyloto'. The follow-up to "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" was written and recorded at Coldplay's North London studio, The Bakery. Chris Martin and his Coldplay band mates have been working hard writing new material over the past summer. The new album and tour are highly-anticipated after the band's last top-selling album "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends” and the sold-out world tour tour.

Since the end of the "Viva La Vida Tour,” the band has so far kept a low public profile and work on the as yet untitled album has taken precedence. Exceptions are the release of the 9-track Coldplay live album, "LeftRightLeftRightLeft” and their appearance at the Jo Whiley curated "Big Noise Session” in 2009. The band has been confirmed as one of the headline acts for Glastonbury 2011 alongside Beyonce and U2.

Rumours for a major Coldplay tour in 2011 have been making the rounds for a while .Subscribe to our newsletter and become a friend of Buy Sell My Tickets on Facebook or follow us on Twitter (@BSMTickets) to be amongst the first to hear when Coldplay tour dates get announced and Coldplay tickets become available.

Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland formed the world conquering Coldplay in 1996, while studying at University College London and living in Camden, North London. Guy Berryman and Will Champion soon completed the line-up, which changed its name several times, from Pectoralz and Starfish until settling on Coldplay.

The band would soon release 3 EP’s in quick succession. The early material set the style with favourable reviews comparing the band to Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Travis.

The Mercury Prize nominated debut album, "Parachutes” followed in 2000 with its anthemic hit single, "Yellow” penetrating the charts and heavy-rotation playlists of major radio stations. Coldplay have arrived and launched their meteoric rise to the rock pantheon.

"A Rush Of Blood To The Head,” the 2001 follow-up album contained a series of chart-storming singles, such as "Clocks,” "In My Place” and the piano ballad, "The Scientists.” The band got invited by U2 to open during the US dates for their 2001 Elevation Tour and helped breaking Coldplay to the American market.

The band scooped numerous end-of-year polls for ‘Best New Act,’ ‘Best Live Band’ and ‘Album of the Year.’ The band retreated after finishing their tireless touring commitments for "A Rush Of Blood To The Head” and began work on what would eventually see the light of day as "X&Y,” their 3rd studio album.

"X&Y” established Coldplay as a major recording and live act, amongst the biggest bands, such as U2, Muse, The Rolling Stones or Radiohead to name but a few. Critically, "X&Y” was released in 2004 and received mixed reviews. Part loved the new album; others accused the band of stagnation or criticized the at times synthetic 80’s production.

Nonetheless, supported by anticipation and a string of radio-friendly singles, such as "Fix You,” the Kraftwerk inspired "Talk,” and "Speed of Sound,” the album arrived at Number 1 in the UK, becoming the third-fastest selling album in UK charts history. The "Twisted Logic Tour” in support of "X&Y” saw the band play the biggest arenas in front of sold-out audiences around the world.

While "X&Y” and the "Twisted Logic Tour” were commercially successes, the band knew next album needed to send a clear signal out and pave the way forward for Coldplay.

Taking advise from Chris Martin’s rockstar pals, U2, Coldplay enlisted Brian Eno as producer and musical collaborator for the songwriting sessions.

Promotion duties for "X&Y” and intense songwriting and recording sessions delayed the next release for 4 years. The new album, "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends” got released in 2008 and preceded by lead single, "Violent Hill.” The new sound signaled a departure from the band’s previous work but still had all the hallmarks of a classic Coldplay album to please old fans, as well as gaining new ones. The album’s title-track’ "Viva La Vida,” chosen as the second single saw Chris Martin and his band mates embracing a more recognisable Coldplay style. The song’s big chorus and repetitive synth melody catapulted the single into the top charts, received multiple-Platinum certification and became a live favourite during the subsequent and completely sold-out "ViVa La Vida World Tour.”
